I was trying to take off my TB to clean it out and sea foam it a bit (My car has 150,000miles, and the last owner(s) treated it poorly), but the socket just stripped those bolts. I've had plenty of people try and get if off, it seems impossible. Is there something obvious that im doing wrong? I just took off the nut, and then tryed to unbolt it... but the torx ones just strip.
Also, is there a way to remove the screen without taking off the TB? That would be useful.
You don't need to remove the TB in order to access the screen. Take the rubber piece off of the front of your tb, and you'll see the screen behind it. Remove the air filter plastic from the top of the radiator, and the screen can be removed with ease. Just get a toothpick and lift one side of the ring that holds the screen in place, and it will pop out from there.

Those torx things are a PITA! I took a dremel to them. I cut a groove across the torx bolts so I could use a screwdriver on them instead, and it works like a charm!
Awesome, got the screen out. About to sea foam it... What exactly am i supposed to avoid? i cant really see anything other than a pillar in the middle, cant see back to the butterfly. There's a strange gurgling noise coming from the TB though. Doesn't sound healthy. The Dremel idea i will definetly have to do.
The Gurgling sound is, I assume, when the car is running, correct?
Thats normal, when you don't have the air filter and all that other junk inline, thats the sound the car makes when it brings air in. If you have a CAI you'd hear this all the time, though mostly when its cold.
EDIT: I see you do have a CAI. I dunno, I hear the gurgle all the time, I'm supprised you don't too...
