  • Any differences between a y87 and a stock v8 muffler?

Are they the same muffler? Or are they different? I know av8 muffler will give a little more sound then stock(my old car with one off a z28 did)

    Also whats a y87 I-pipe size?

Before you ask I want a y-87 muffler because with lsd, I wodul need a muffler to run "stock" in a local autocrossing car club.

and if its the same as a v8 muffler, I can probably get a v8 muffler cheaepr nad easier then a y87 muffler.

          I had a z28 catback on my 3.4L...

BUt that is not what got my times... I ran faster with another setup and with a cutout on the y-pipe with a partial block off plate.

Though the z28 catback sounded deep and mellow, and had more gains then a flowmaster muffler on the stock I-pipe.
