i have seen this post before but i would like to figure out some more stuff about doing this type of intake. I see viper04af has a K&N on his throttle body with no tubing, does it work good? I was thinking about buying a filter from my local autozone and clamping it on, but some people say it will suck in hot air. How about old cars with carbs, most have circular filters on top of the engine, if it works fine for them, i think it would work ok for our fuel injected engines. plus with removing some of the older airfilter plastic panels you can free up some room to get more cooler air into your engine bay. what does everyone think about this idea?

I did this, i detached it all and put a filter on the throtal body. It doesn't work. The car runs fine after you give it some time to adjust, but whever you run it throught a gear and then put it in nuetral the car stalls.2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.
