• Pacesetter Headers: Don't use Felpro gaskets!

When I did my heads/cam swap I bought Felpro gaskets, since they were available from the auto parts store. After installing them, there was an immediate leak. I had a few others left over, so I tried them too. In total, 3 sets of Felpros all leaked.

As you can see the problem lies in the fact that the primaries are circular, while the ports on the gasket are not. The holes on the gasket are too wide, which keeps it from sealing around the edges. The gaskets from Pacesetter have circular ports which mate up much better with the headers.

I believe anyone who had success with Felpros just got lucky.

Actually, I used the ones from Pacesetter when I installed the headers in January and had great luck with them. The Felpros were cheaper and easier to get, so I went with them for the heads/cam. Some people on the board suggested they were better than Pacesetters, while others suggested the other way around. Now it's quite obvious that Pacesetters are better. ;)

Feel free to use those pics.

Yes, the ones from Felpro are soft metal and made to be stock replacements.

I wish I could remember the brand that I used. 3-ply metal gaskets bought from NAPA. Light Blue and white box (not NAPA brand).

Intense sells these gaskets, but they will cost about 25 bucks after shipping.

I had problems with both gaskets. The pacesetter gaskets didnt even last 30 secs. after the header install. So i whent out and brought the felpro gaskets, the lasted about a week. So i got smart and order the thickest gasket material i could and made a set of custom gaskets . the have worked just fine.
I used Mr. gasket material.
