  • Just a question about CAI install

So I'm getting an SLP CAI soon (the dual filter setup). I was wondering if I need to remove the splash guard underneath where the cones will sit.

correct on replacing all of it, and DONT take off the splash guard or you have a verrrry good chance of it sucking up water...and that be bad...

Really, I was doing a search on that and it seems a lot of people were saying they have never had a problem... but maybe they didn't remove it. oh well, in any event I will feel a difference regardless. Thanks man.

mines off, and ive never had a problem. i do it more for ease of cleaning the filters than anything else.

dont drive through deep water. hell, i cant remember the last time my car saw rain.

I got the same CAI, and i kept the splashguard on. Not worth the risk of sucking up water just for making filter cleaning 10 minutes easier.

Leave it on, youll get plenty of air w/ it on.

Side Note: Someone online theres directions for someones 'LT1 Air Scoop' fabrication they made, sorta like a ram air setup for the SLP CAI. Its pretty cool lookin, id check that out also.

                That would be awesome.

I'm going to have to cut the splash guard anyway to put the filters on so does it even function if it's left on? I mean, I'll be cutting a hole in it. Do you suggest I get epoxy and glue it back?
