Really, I was doing a search on that and it seems a lot of people were saying they have never had a problem... but maybe they didn't remove it. oh well, in any event I will feel a difference regardless. Thanks man.
I never removed my splash guard but Loochy is right, dont drive through deep puddles or in heavy rain.
oops, then again I have a 98. different typr of CAI.
New Toy Red 94 Formula LT1
RT: .0006 60': 1.894 1/8 mile: 8.351 @ 84.89 1/4 mile: 12.974 @ 107.81
crashed Red 96 Camaro 3.8l: 14.91 @ 92.38
The ex wife's Black 98 Firebird 3.8l: 15.23 @ 88.12
I got the same CAI, and i kept the splashguard on. Not worth the risk of sucking up water just for making filter cleaning 10 minutes easier.
Leave it on, youll get plenty of air w/ it on.
Side Note: Someone online theres directions for someones 'LT1 Air Scoop' fabrication they made, sorta like a ram air setup for the SLP CAI. Its pretty cool lookin, id check that out also.
i fabbed up a scoop for a friends LT1 car. looked pretty cool LT1 ram air
its on the car now works good. ill try to get a pic of it soon if u want.

I'm going to have to cut the splash guard anyway to put the filters on so does it even function if it's left on? I mean, I'll be cutting a hole in it. Do you suggest I get epoxy and glue it back?
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
