Disinformation up in here like a mother. The angle of the throttle body has nothing to do with the throttle body. It remains straight no matter what year car. It is the upper intake manifold that has the bend. You would need to replace your upper intake manifold and adjust your throttle cable.
Its not THAT big of a deal, but shoot -- while you are swapping out the upper intake manifold you might as well get it ported out for the hell of it [img]graemlins/naughty.gif[/img]

To switch to the fly-by-wire system you would need:
upper intake manifold
TB
PCM
wiring hareness
gas pedal

The IAC motor is in the intake, on the 98 and below. When you swap intakes, you lose the IAC function.
However....
If you're going to make a tb adapter plate, then put a late 90's truck 5.3 LS1 tb on it. These have the iac motor in the tb. And fab up a throttle cable bracket to hold the cable still.
That's if you want to retain the cable throttle control, and your stock pcm and harness.
The years up to 1998 have angled intakes.
The '98 is still cable like the earlier years.
The '99 and up have the straight intake and electric throttle.
The main difference with the '98 is it has the lid over the radiator... But the tubing is at a weird angle because the tb is still at an angle.

So your options are:
1. Straight intake and matching tb and matching harness and pcm. And modifications so the new pcm and harness will interface with underdash wiring and gauges.
2. Straight intake, truck tb with built-in iac, and a custom adapter plate to match the bolt holes and the iac air passages.

The iac is an issue because with the 99+ electric tb, the pcm modulates the throttle open and closed to maintain the correct idle speed, so no separate iac is needed. TPS, IAC, and throttle control functions are all integrated into one connector. Throttle input also requires wiring. This all requires a different harness and pcm.
iac = idle air control
On the '98 and below, the iac moves a pintle back and forth in an idle air passage in the intake wall, to let some air bypass around the throttle blade, to maintain the desired idle speed. TPS and IAC are separate wiring connectors in this setup.
