• Catco Goof Up??

Well I just got back from the local exhaust shop and he told me that he couldn't install my catco highflow cat (3" both sides 14" long #6007) because it is not made for an OBD-II car and it will throw tons of codes and won't run right. Now this is the cat that everyone on the board was saying to go with...but how did you get it to work? Is the shop suppose to use the existing pipe with the sensor in it? I am almost positive this is the right cat and that it will work, especially when everyone else on the board is running it. Anyone know the truth to this and will it really throw codes?
Thanks

Go to a different shop. There is absolutely no way they could have been able to tell that. The guy was a completely retarded idiot for saying that.

And he probably was lazy and didn't want to do it. Which I will never understand.

agreed on that. I have seen a couple installed and no codes yet.

Some shops like to sell you the cat and then put it on. When I wanted to put my cat on several shops turned me down. That may have been why he turned you down but I dunno.

The cat shouldn't throw any codes. I have one, but I have an o2 sim too, just because I didn't take mine to a shop and have a new bung added. I did a bolt-on 3" exhaust at the same time.

If the guy was going to cut off your 2 1/4" s-pipe in order to hook up to the 3" cat, then you would have lost the o2 sensor after the cat...

But he can weld a new bung in whatever pipe he fits to the back of the cat, so everything should still be in place that way.

Hee hee hee, you need a new bung hole :D
Find another shop.
When they replace the pipe they can just weld in a new bung for the o2 sensors.

I had that cat, the S-pipe and the I-pipe all done at the same time and my mechanic cut the old bung out of the old pipe and welded it onto the new one.

No emmisions problems or SES for me

I have that cat and it did eventually turn on the ses light after about six months with code 0420. I put in a post-cat O2 sim and the light has been off ever since. Go to another shop. I had mine installed at the local Midas.
