What exactly does an exhaust leak sound like?

if you are accelerating really hard it sounds like your motor is stumbling. its like a really high pressure blast of air coming from your engine compartment. and yes it does sound really bad

I had my clamped on cat leak awhile back. It just sounded like a rough edge to the exhaust at times that didn't need to be there. You'll know if its leaking because it will be a tone that doesn't sound like your exhaust. Was a little harder to notice when I had no exhaust on the car and my headers were leaking but if you pay enough attention you can hear it (warning u may start hearing random noises you never noticed lol some are normal, have to learn to tell the diference) My leak was a ticking in the driver side and alot more noise then should be coming from the center console under load (minus the ticking for my leaking cat).
