All the dang rice burners have em. But would they make even the slightest difference on my 3.1L Camaro? Or are they just for looks under the hood?

Cool Air Intake (K&N) Do They Really Work?

Yes, they do work. A high-flow air filter (doesn't have to be a K&N, Accel or BG ones work good too) and a cold-air intake are good for a few hp.
If I were you, I'd get an open-style air cleaner top (like the ones from Edelbrock or Summit) and a K&N style filter. Free hp over the crappy stocker.
Best of luck dude.16 years old with no car and big dreams...

i actualy did the intake swap on mine and saw a pretty nice gain
you can mostly feel it really helping at high speeds, makes merging and passing a little bit easier
id say go for it, not too much money to spend on a few hp1992 Camaro RS
Performance: K/N filter and custom CAI
Stereo/Electronics: 10\" Kicker Subwoofers, DEHP-4400 Pioneer Head Unit
Maintenance: New brake lines, New transmission mount
Upcoming: Flowmaster American Thunder Catback, Catco Catalytic Converter

yeah they work,.. ive got a shvaed air box and K&N,.. i saw a small diffrence. If you get the K&N, CAI, and the LId. You should see a pretty good size gain. The CAI is estimated at 20hp+ gain by SLP. So Im estimating +10hp.2001 Pewter Firebird
4-speed automatic
T-tops
*LSD *3.42

Shaved Air Box
K&N Filtercharger
Firebat Decals
Dual Exhaust
Tinted

Yes they do work, I'm just learning about the parts for Camaros and firebirds. But on the stangs they work. If someone makes a CAI that goes into the fenderwell, I would suggest getting that one, the K&N one is nice, but if I do remember right the filter stays in the engine bay, causing it to suck in warmer air than it technically would coming from outside the fenderwell. Demolet's Densecharger (full length) has been dynoed to give appox. 10rwhp and 10rwtq...no joke. CAI's you will find to add about 10hp at the crank on average.--1998 MUSTANG V6 4R70W--
Peformance--
K&N Air Filter,Removed Air Silencer, GT Take Off Dual Exhaust, 180 Degree Thermostat, 1.5\" Drop Eibach Sport Lines
Appareance--
GTS Carbon Fiber Headlight Covers, Clear Corners, Tinted windows, Eaglite Xenon Bulbs
Audio--
2 Kenwood 10\'s in a Sealed Box, Kenwood KAC-829 2 channel 600w Amp
