• Cutout and Removed Cat: Look Inside

Well, I got ballsy and decided to remove the cat and install a cutout in it's place. Both O2 sensors are still present though. Now have a straight piece of pipe between last 2 o2 sensors with a cutout on it. I have a flowmaster and SLP CAI too. No other pipe changes have been made. My comments are:

No Cat: Deeper sound, no popping at all, smoother acceleration, noticeably quicker. New track best today (closed cutout) went from previous 10.11 to a 9.72

Cutout: Sounds downright bad***, little bit obnoxious after a while, but great to drive around for a bit with open, very loud and deep up until 3000 RPMS, higher pitched at WOT and louder, but still good sounding. (Raspy, not ricey at all though). A bit slower around 0-30, but quite a bit quicker 40-45 and up, best track run with cutout open was a 9.86, only 0.14 behind the closed cutout.

Total cost was $80 even, I'm extremely pleased and recommend these mods to anyone looking for a LOUD but quicker car. (Can be made quiet too by closing the cutout.) Oh, as far as SES light goes, I have 2 codes, one for my manual fan switch and one for cat inefficency (due to lack of a converter . Light being on saves me $100 (o2 sims). Hope this helps!

if you have no cat.. and no o2 sims...will it mess up anything with the car.. like air to fuel ratio or something?

or is it just a code.. something that wont harm performance?

I'd like to know as well, but I don't think anyone KNOWS. Just speculation.

The post cat o2 sensor is only there to tell if the cat is working or not. The o2 sensors in the exhaust manifolds are the ones that change your air/fuel ratio and that stuff.

Hey Cale, now instead of a low voltage reading on my o2 sim I have a high voltage reading. All I did was clean the connection, guess I cleanned it too well.
