  • I guess i need a new sensor?

Well after scanning and resetting my computer at outzone got the DTC P0113 Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit High Voltage code. My ses light was off for about a day and now it has come back on. so i guess i need to buy a new sensor, or something, I guess i broke it trying to strech it to the elbow, any ideas what i need to buy and where to get it.

But i dont understand is if the sensor is bad and the computer says its not working than why doesnt it throw more codes for not being able to read the air temp. and other componets of the car and so on. It seems if the high circuit isnt working than other stuff wouldnt work either. I dont what iam talking about so ill shut up now.

Do a search for the IAT mod. Might be fun. It will certainly be cheaper than a new sensor.

If you did stretch out the wires, gettig a new sensor won't fix the problem. Hopefully you only messed it up at the sensor end of it so it will be easier to fix.

But you can get a new sensor at any parts store. I recommend Advanced Auto parts because they have the stock plastic AC Delco IAT sensor, were as Autozone has this cheap metal IAT sensor. I believe when that metal sensor heats up in the engine bay you would be getting some very high intake air temps, and the plastic one would be somewhat insulated from the heat.

The IAT sensor is not very important. The PCM only uses it on cold start-ups and (i think) WOT. The MAF sensor reads air temp, humidity, and density all the time. If the IAT sensor goes bad there are plenty of other back ups for the engine to use.

get a 5.5ohm resistor and plug it into the IAT sensor plug. If it removes the SES light then the actual sensor itself is busted. I suggest you replace it because I found the !IAT hack actually hurt my performance by adding .1 to my E.T. and slow my trap down 1.5MPH
