I have some idea how to do it but I want to hear how you guys did it. What is the maximum you can widen the openning before it interferes with closing of the hood? What do you use to do this?

I have enough space to slide my hand under it, I would guess about 3/8-1/2 in. it fits, but it might be touching the hood, but I am not too sure, it closes fine so I am not worried. you can use washers, or I used some dynomat left over from my dad and just stacked a few pieces together and drilled a hole through seems fine, you only have to do it on the two outside screws.

Just use some washers and put them under the screws that hold down the lid housing. I did it on mine and you just use like one washer at a time tell you cant close the hood. Then when you cant close the hood remove one washer. Now its wide open as far as you can go.

I sell a kit on ebay occasionally which utilizes 1/2" nylon spacers - I have found that anything higher than 1/2" (which requires new screws btw) can cause hood problems. The 1/2" raising creates a noticeable increase in performance, and I haven't needed to cut my airbox because of it .
Plus, because my airbox isn't cut, I am always drawing in cold air instead of hot air which passes over the radiator.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

Same as Dom said.. I went to lowes and I used the 1/2 nylon spacers, one for each far outside bolt and your done, enough space to squeeze my hand under. I could tell a difference.Red 1998 Firebird

I had 4 small washers under my bolts but when I added the wisper lid it started to rub on the hood so I took them all out, I may put some of them in some day, I just need to look it over again.~chris~ 98 Cayenne red Camaro 3800 A4, 3:08, T tops Borla cat-back, wisper lid K&N, Bilstine shocks, Dunlops all around.
AOL IM: chevyboyz24
