MAF Problem???? HELP

[99 RS Camaro]

I'm not sure what it is...but when im at a stop and accelerate to get up to speed i press the gas peddle and my car doesnt do anything, actually sounds like its about to bog down and die...it doesnt do it all the time but when it does it wont let me get up to 15mph. My dad thinks its the MAF sensor. Any suggestions?? thank you

dang..forgot to add...dont think its the tranny because my tranny on my old truck went out and it was completely different then what my camaro is doing now...on my truck i would press the gas peddle and nothing would happen...on my camaro now i press it and it acts like it wants to but it doesnt...like i stated..it slowly bogs down like it wants to die.....any help would be appreciated............PS comp is down at my apt so only time i get on is when im at my parents which is 2 or so times a week to do laundry...thanks

Faulty MAF should throw an SES light, but then again, anything causing that much loss of power I would expect to also. It hasn't come on at all?

no my ses light hasnt came on at all, but my oil change light stays on quite often also now, i get my oil change regularly and right at every 3000 miles, i go to the same place everytime, but after this last time i got it changed, a couple days later my "change oil" light came on.....also i replaced a tensioner belt pulley on my car a couple months ago jus fyi....dont know if that has anything to do with what its doing........thanks for all the help, everyone

Did you manually reset your oil change light? (key on - engine off - press and hold). Re: power - is your fuel pressure OK, filter clean?

no i havent done that, didnt even think about that either, fuel pressure seems ok and is not very dirty.

i finally got another job so now i can start savin some cash to fix it

Sounds like a clogged cat but it would throw a code.

Are all your gauges doing alright? Oil Pres, temp?


Check tranny fluid.

a clogged cat wouldnt be random. it would happen constantly and would like you said, throw a code.

take the maf sensor out and spray it brakes or gun cleaner... something strong so you don't have to touch it with any thing

mine had a coat of biuld up around the wire's and the car would stall and had respons......

let it dry and put it back it should be good to go, save me $100 for the new one
