When is this happening? Does it happen when you rev the car in neutral? Or when your downshifting?

sounds like backfiring, something like the valves and pressure making exhaust go back into the combustion chamber or sumtin, not sure so dont quote me- ive seen this occur mostly with down shifting. hard to say, well im sure ur guna get ur car checked out, and best of luck

Sounds to me like loads of unburnt fuel. Almost like the timing between your injectors and your coil is somehow out of whack.

Are you really shooting flames out the tailpipes, or are you just hearing the normal low-pressure popping when you let the motor wind down like that?

I think its actually pretty normal I believe. Watch any kind of race, especially dirt track oval, and you'll see that most everytime they go into a corner and let off the gas flames will shoot out the tailpipe. Its just in our cars or any other street car for that matter, its the cat converter or muffler that stops the flames before they reach the end of the pipe.

Do you still have a cat? It should stop the flames. Frankly, I'm surprised it would go through our mufflers that well. Usually you only see it on cars with straight pipes and no cat. Its caused by fuel getting dumped into the exhaust and then the fuel ingnites on its way out.

well my cat was somewhat clogged and i guess i blew it out cuz its not like how it was anymore...so im guessin that its basically a straight pipe now...but when flames come out its not like a normal backfire sound...its a loud bang...but anyways i like the fact that i can do that..and it there was a way that i could get pics i would but its not a every 5 minute accurance that it happens

You like the fact that your car back fires so hard that it shoots flames? Thats not good at all. Something is wrong.
