• open headers question

Ugh, can't find my old username.. been lurking here forever, but haven't really seen anything but a short one sentence comment about running on open headers.

Anyone ever do this on their 3800 II? What's it sound like if ya did? I know it would be really loud, but is it really loud in a mean way or just kind a weird loud noise?

Also, just a little question so I don't have to go make another small post on a different section - does Jet make a chip or Hypertech make a programmer for the 3.8 3800 II car?! I've got a 96 camaro, and was trying to find somewhere the sells them, but I'm failing miserably. Local hot rod shop says they don't make them for my car, but I don't believe it - I know I've seen it in sigs here.

    Thanks, folks.

all you 96 guys are screwed as far as tuning is concerned. open headers have been run on one guys car that i know of. it was loud and fairly rumbly. The headers used were CIA's. He put on the rest of the exhaust at a later time.

Oh, thanks! I didn't see the search feature! </sarcasm>

I didn't find it anywhere doing a search. Like I said, through all the posts I rummaged through and all the posts I've read since coming here, I only remember one guy saying that when he got towards the end of installing his headers, he fired it up open and it was loud. That's it.

edit: Thanks for the reply, arctc! What the hell, though - they just decide not to make a chip or programmer for '96's?

And Yep, no kind of chip or programming for us at all

Thanks man! I don't know why I didn't see that link when I searched.. the first one, that is. Saw the other two.

Thanks alot, exactly what I was looking for! Sounded like a beast in idle and little nudges- wonder if it goes flowmaster-ish at 4k+ rpm?
