one CAI vs. another

ok i have read alot on this board and i have not seen a comparison of CAI's . if anyone has used different intakes on their car , please reply with your feelings.

There is a lot of stuff on codl air, so I will just include my questions here.

1) Does anybody have any pictures? This would help me to understand what everyboyd is talkign about

2) I have a 01 Firebird, K&N, Raised airbox (w/ washers), Free Ram air mod, and I also cut the nostrils out of my hood to act as a true ram air. So, the question is, would there be any benefit to going with the FTRA? And if so, where exactly does it go? I know they have the plate with the kit that closes off the front of the air box. Does the air scoop on the bottom replace Pontiac's plastic air dam? What happens with different ground effects that block the front of the car?

The intakes for the '98+ fbodys are in the center in front of the radiator while the '96-97 style goes off to the side and into the fender well.

if you do have a 96-97, then alomst everyone would recomend to you the slp cai. its a great cai

I love my K&N FIPK. Good throttle response, better top end. Also since it is made of plastic, it will cool quicker when you have the hood popped at the track, and not retain as much heat as a metal intake.

You've got one of the rare 95 3.8s there, according to your profile. There are 2 options that I know of for the 95-97 3.8s; SLP and Lingenfelter. FirebirdGT has the Lingenfelter intake, there was a post about it recently. It's cheaper by $30 I think, so it's on my xmas list. ;)

Lots of people have the SLP CAI, but I don't think many people know about Lingenfelter. I only just heard about it last week reading one of FirebirdGT's posts.

If you get the 1LE elbow it makes most a lot of CAI adaptable, such as K&N, G2, the SLP comes with the elbow, thats why it fits.
