about a month ago i was getting a high idle (about 1500 - 2000 rpms). When i disconected the battery and then reconnected it the idle went back to normal for about a week. This time i pulled off the IAC and cleaned it and pushed the rod thing in and out a couple times. This fixed the problem for about another week. Yesterday i got the high idle again, so i pulled off the IAC again to clean and push in and out. So i'm thinking it's broken and i need a new one. This time it didn't fix the idle, so i unplugged the battery again and that fixed it. My questing is, is this my IAC that's messing up my idle, because i don't see how if it's broken reseting the computer fixes it and i don't want to waste money getting a new one if that's not the problem. Also when i have the high idle it's also high while i'm driving(never drops below 1200 - 1300 RPMs while coasting or stopped) Any help is appreciated.

As far as I know, resetting the computer sends the IAC pintle back to a default position and then it relearns its positioning again from there. Sounds to me like it is your IAC.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

a while back my car was reving itself while in park. up to 3k rpms then back down and so forth... anyway, i got out and grabbed the throttle cable and revved it by yanking on the cable a couple of times and i haven't had the problem since then. sometimes something gets stuck on those throttle cables and it takes just a little to release them. give that a shot and then go from there. it's not your IAT sensor.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

Evan, I don't know if you made a typo when you put "IAT" or if you really did mean IAT. Anyhow, it would not be the IAT sensor, but it could still definitely be his IAC. It takes more testing and troubleshooting to make sure...I wouldn't eliminate it as the problem quite yet.
