  • Exhaust banging when i go over speedbumps and dips

I get a pretty loud bang/clang when I go over speedbumps and drainage dips in the road. My exhaust also sounds bad at high rpm's when i rev in neutral. I'm thinking one of my exhaust tips is loose, but I can't really tell when I look under the car. the sound going over speedbumps is like a tamborine, kinda. it's not deep, it's higher pitch. Do u guys have ne ideas as 2 what it may be?

This happen to me. It was the I-pipe and it was hitting the rear stablizer bar. Had my exhaust shop put another hanger it it to bring the I-pipe up some and it toke car of the problem.

look for a cable hitting on the swaybar. and also look to see if your muffler is hitting it, too. mine was doing both. solved a lot of problems. my exhuast still hops though because the hangers are rubber.

also soem exhaust shops tend to make there own hangers for the pipe that comes out of the muffler on the passenger side look to see if that hanger has broke loose form the frame if so that could cause the problem you are describing

I had my exhaust shop add a more solid rubber spacer in there to lift the exhaust up from before, because it was resting on the rear axle. I can't tell if ne welds r broken. I'm gonna take it back 2 the exhaust shop tomorrow and have him fix it, cuz he lifetime warranties his work and is a really nice guy. I'll see what happens tomorrow. The sound it like a tamborine or a loose exhaust hanger, so I dunno. decelerating, no sound unless i hit some bumps in the road, and now even if I go over a manhole cover, i hear it clink. I can't tell acceleration-wise, cuz it's 2 loud back there.

Yeah same exact thing happened to me, I just got it fixed last week, it is the exhaust hitting the rear stabilizer bar, what the dealership did was they did a little modding to those rubber thingys that connects the hangers from the exhaust to the ones on the chassis.

alright. I got it taken care of. It was when the GM deaLership put in my lsd 2 weeks ago, they didn't tighten down the bolts on my rear swaybar. I couldn't tell if it was loose or not until I got it up on a lift and let the suspension hang. Thanks for the help guys.
