I was looking into this, its all nice and shiny and cheap, and seems like it would out last that nylon **** that they give you with the whisper lid. What possible problems am Ilooking at if I do this??? Possibly metal shards?? wouldnt the tb screen catch those??

I bought some 4" air intake/duct hose from advanced auto over a year ago. No problems yet. No cracks or anything. The have almost any diameter Intake Air Hose at Advance for about $4 for 2 or 3 feet worth. Strange =) the stuff I had tore in about a week, I had to switch it around so that the torn end is connected to the air box, theres more area to fasten it there thus eliminating the problem till it tears again. Probably thinner material than what we use. Now that I think about it the stuff we use is pretty thick. The inner diameter is only about half of the outer diameter.

pvc isn't going to get that hot
remember it is connected to rubber which is then connected to the engine, which also puts about 4 inches of space between the pipe & the engine. It just doesn't get that hot

Well I have been using a piece of flexible dryer hose for about 6 months now ... wrapped in black duct tape (because I didn't like the shiny silver color). The dryer duct hose is flexible enough to turn the corner, if you bought an ls1 lid like I did ... back in my in-experienced days.
