I was looking into this, its all nice and shiny and cheap, and seems like it would out last that nylon **** that they give you with the whisper lid. What possible problems am Ilooking at if I do this??? Possibly metal shards?? wouldnt the tb screen catch those??

Just as an aside, nylon tubing is actually quite durable. We use nylon tubing at the flight lab that I work at for aircraft instrumentation systems. Granted its smaller tubing but the durability should be approximately the same.

Strange =) the stuff I had tore in about a week, I had to switch it around so that the torn end is connected to the air box, theres more area to fasten it there thus eliminating the problem till it tears again. But I wish I had a better lasting/looking material that was safe to use.1998 Firebird 3.8, A4
Mods: Alum Ds, Yank TC 2800 stall, Rksport lid, FTRA, SLP air temp sensor, K&N, Flowmaster catback 2.5\" w/cutout, 3:42 gears w/LSD
Best E/T: 15.6 @ 86 mph (w/o gears / lsd or verter)
Best 60: 2.234
www.teamfoxfire.iwarp.com -- club site
To come?: l67 piston package hardened, turbo? spray? low 12\'s? well see

Probably thinner material than what we use. Now that I think about it the stuff we use is pretty thick. The inner diameter is only about half of the outer diameter.

yah ill bet. The stuff you guys have would probably out last my car. The stuff they gave me is probably manufactured by some child in libya or something.1998 Firebird 3.8, A4
Mods: Alum Ds, Yank TC 2800 stall, Rksport lid, FTRA, SLP air temp sensor, K&N, Flowmaster catback 2.5\" w/cutout, 3:42 gears w/LSD
Best E/T: 15.6 @ 86 mph (w/o gears / lsd or verter)
Best 60: 2.234
www.teamfoxfire.iwarp.com -- club site
To come?: l67 piston package hardened, turbo? spray? low 12\'s? well see

I wouldn't doubt it. Some corporate bean counter was cutting corners at some point and said, "Boy if we cut the thickness of this in half we'll save x amount of money."

What's that about the PVC??? I know there are a few people, including myself, that use a PVC piece as an air silencer bypass, so I'd like to know more about that....maybe start another thread on it. pvc isn't going to get that hot
remember it is connected to rubber which is then connected to the engine, which also puts about 4 inches of space between the pipe & the engine. It just doesn't get that hot
As long as the pvc is ok for outside use (and it is), it will be fine in that configuration.2001 75th Anniversary V6 Pewter Firebird w/ Chrome Wheels, T-Tops, & Y87
Mods: Free Ram Air, !Silencer, Holley Filter, Full 3\" Hooker Catback, 3\" Cat
Best time: 15.095 at 90.00 MPH with a 2.127 60\'

Well I have been using a piece of flexible dryer hose for about 6 months now ... wrapped in black duct tape (because I didn't like the shiny silver color). The dryer duct hose is flexible enough to turn the corner, if you bought an ls1 lid like I did ... back in my in-experienced days.
