how much for header install

i am interested in getting some headers but i will by no means be able to install them, about how much would i be lookin at to get my headers put on

I was quoted $300 to install headers assuming everything went smoothly and did not require drilling/tapping heads.

Just grab someone you know that's knowledgeable and is willing to hang out while you install them. They don't have to do any work, just assist you in where to jack up the car and what not.

chet, do a quicl search and you'll see tons about leaks. Lots block off egr if it leaks or get new gaskets. About 200-350 for install at most places.

I know the manager at midas (he does good work i swear) and he would do me up for 150 or so, but i dont need them.

I'm thinking about doing about 75-85% of the work myself, then having it towed to a shop where I'm getting the rest of the work done (cutting exhaust holes for the headers, etc). But only if it costs less than taking it somewhere and having them do it.

i checked in our labor book at our shop it was somewhere around 1.5 hours per side. so depending on the labor our shop is 55 an hour your looking at about 150-170.
To do it yourself may take a while...since our motors are so tight. its tough getting at everything without a lift.

i didnt use a lift when i did mine. putting on header is a very doable thing for anyone. when i did my header install, all i had were a couple hand tools, time and some balls. It wasnt that hard and i think easier than most make it out to be. get your hands dirting cause i can think of a lot of things to spend 300+ on

All I needed to do was tighten up the header bolts say 2 weeks later... and another 2 weeks later... and ive had no probs sence. I went with the paceheaders/y-pipe. Good deal i like em!

All depends on where you go, who does it, and how smart they are. All i can tell you is that it is a real pain, and i wouldnt be surprised if a shop jacks up the price by telling you things went wrong, so they can extend the labor hours....My advice is take it to someone you trust.
