Ok i have a 94 firebired formula v8. It has no cats and one flow master muffler. When i red line it sitting still I can hear the thing echo of in the distance. Would it be worth putting another cat on there or just pulling the chip out to turn the check engine light off?
BTW a 94 LT1 is way better than a 94 3.4.
94 Firebird Formula<br />mods=Flowmasters (glass pack in place of cat), K&N cold air intake, hypertech tuned.

What I'm doing is putting a dynomax bullet muffler in the place of the cat.
My car has a problem with blowing out cats for some reason. which can clog up the muffler. I think adding a resonator will do the trick for ya.

id say just put a hi flow cat on it. i've had my car with a standard cat, no cat and a high flow cat. with none, the exhaust is noticably louder and more raspy. with a hi flow on, it makes teh car sound sooo much better. youll move the power band lower with the cat on, but unless you are racing a lot, it wont really affect you much...

add a bullet muffler. then get rid of that peice of crap flowmaster. that thing doesnt flow any better than the stock exhaust.
go with either a slp lm or magnaflow. they sound really good on lt1s. if you ever do headers do go cheap with shorties or mid lengths either. long tubes are the only way to go.
in his defense about the lt1 comment, going from a 3.4 to a lt1 is big jump. when i first got mine i about s*** my pants everytime i hit the gas.
im not putting the 3.4 down at all so dont take it the wrong way. i loved my 3.4 and wish i could have held on to it,but dirtbag thieves ruined it for me. im probably going to pick up another one here soon just becuase i miss it. he will understand how much these cars are a PITA once something goes wrong with it(its not cheap like everyone thinks to fix an lt1) and will wish he still had his 3.4 as a backup car like me.
either way enjoy your car.
