  • SLP CAI and MAF screen

I have the SLP CAI on order and was wondering if I should go ahead and remove the MAF screen since there will be a more direct air flow. Can I use a whisper lid along with these mods. Thanks

Yes, you can use the CAI and whisper lid together. In fact, it seems to be pretty popular. I didn't want to blow $100+ on an airbox lid, so I just ground the ribs out of the factory lid (using a hand grinder with a pointed grinding stone) and then used about a dozen sheets of sandpaper on it to remove the rough edges and little pieces of plastic. But that's just me. I could think of much better things to do with $100 when a little time and work gets you basically the same effect for the cost of a pack of sandpaper. As far as the MAF screen goes, it's up to you. I left mine in because it just didn't seem like a good idea to me.

if you have a 1997, you dont have the stock airbox like the 98+ do, so you can just use the SLP CAI

Leave the MAF screen in unless you're at the track. Removing it makes your car run rough and the idle gets choppy because more unstraigtened air is passing by the MAF without getting read by the sensor. I noticed my gas milage got worse after removing it as well. It's a track mod if you ask me, not for a daily driver.

As for the lid, go for it! I noticed an improvement in my car after I put in my lid and CAI. Get Whisper though for both the lid and CAI because the SLP version is crap.
