would it kill your torque if you had 3 inch pipe from the manifolds all the way to the muffler witha 2.5 inch outlet or would it be ok?

you would have less torque at lower rpms and the torque peak is higher with a larger pipe. overall you should at least gain some torque through out the rpm band.1999 Firebird Black
A4 3.08 gears
Mods: Carbon Fiber Whisper Lid, Raised Air Box, K&N Air Filter, Direct Hits Ignition, Flowmaster American Thunder 3\", 160 Degree Hypertech Thermostat, SLP Fan Switch, 3\" High Flow Cat
My car on Cardomain

I have a 3 inch catback mandrel bent and if anything it felt more powerfull. I just bought a set of RKSPORT headers a 3inch catco cat and a 3 inch mandrel bent S pipe. Havent got them on yet though. You will have my review soon as I do.

you wouldn't be able to tell at low end. some cars actually don't loose low torque but every car is different1999 Firebird Black
A4 3.08 gears
Mods: Carbon Fiber Whisper Lid, Raised Air Box, K&N Air Filter, Direct Hits Ignition, Flowmaster American Thunder 3\", 160 Degree Hypertech Thermostat, SLP Fan Switch, 3\" High Flow Cat
My car on Cardomain

its good gave me 1-2 more mpg. The throttle response is better. Well you have to find a y-pipe collector from summitracing.com or jegs.com I don't know the part number and I am sure other places sell them you can probally search for it and find it. I would go 2.5 from manifolds to 2.5 collect 3 in out to the cat and the rest 3" cept 2.5 coming off the exhaust. That would be a good setup and it will sound bad *** too. Just get someone to custom bend those pipes from the manifold to the collector or if you want to wait awhile on the y-pipe get headers that come with the y-pipe.
