I just called my local shop, JBA, and they told me that my Midlenths were not legal and would not fit without having to move the converter. I thought they were legal, the reason I bought them and thought that they were was becuase they said 50 states legal AND had the correct Executive Order number right on the headers. I'm so ****ed now. I almost want to put my car back together and forget the whole thing, the credit card I made the purchase of the headers with was lost, and I cancelled it today. My car is sitting in front of my house with most of the components off, and was waiting for header bolts to come so thast the car could be towed to a shop so my headers could be put on. But now it's all ****ed. ****.

Get the midas touch. They will do most things other places wont. I had my cat changed out before the warranty ran off which most places wouldn't do (which is probably the same legality of your headers) without a problem.
There will always be someone who will do it. If midas wont (wich i doubt) then call a performance place and tell them it is an offroad race car or some crap. Afterall you are having it towed, so its not like they will see you driving it.97 RS
Member Status: F-Body Owner
Member Number: 7705
Registered: September 13, 2005
Posts: 24
Email Address: hfoxx123@yahoo.com
Location: Minnesota
Occupation: Database Administration
Homepage: http://none
Car: uh a camaro

Im sure there is some shop around to do it. What about a local shop? Any performance shops?
Putting headers on and moving a cat won't make you fall a smog test, just a visual.1999 Pontiac Trans Am M6 Far from stock.....

***WARNGING***
As the Moderator, it is my duty to tell everyone to stay away from Midas. their business practices are horrible and ignorant disrespect for our cars. go at your own risk and this is my only opinion agreed with many many people.
also, why do you keep calling them midlengths? they are shorties. then, take your stuff to someone else. someone w/ half a brain should be able to make this stuff fit.

I live in a green belt zone of CA, I don't think failing a visual is o.k.
And how are they not midlengths?
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...=egnsearch.asp
^the one's that I purchased. Despite them having the E.O. number, on the pacesetter website, it doesn't include them as being "50 states legal". WTF is going on here?
I'm through with this ****, too much b.s. to deal with on my engine where I live.

The car should pass emissions no problem. Here in NJ, our emissions are strict (like Ca.) where we inherited all the bs testing from, and my car passes no problem. I have a full 3" exhaust, headers, high flow cat AND run the muffler open. The most important thing to have is a working converter which will clear hydrocarbons once it's heated up. That's what's going to allow to pass emissions! So just make sure you have a good converter on there!2004 CE Corvette 10.86@132mph

So they're saying that installing the headers is going to require moving the converter location? Uh, something doesn't seem right there. They should be able to shorten or lengthen the Y-pipe collector to match up to the stock converter location.1994 Firebird 3.4
15.65 @ 86.8
funkz.net/firebird
Timeslips

you got me on the midlength part even though no one else i could find calls them that but like i was saying, take it somewhere else. there should be no problem even if they have to move the cat back or even forward by removing or adding pipping prior or after the cat

Well I'm taking it there and They'll see if they will fit, if they don't, they'll find me ones that do. My dad has stepped in to help me with this slightly overwhelming situation, because he knows the shop guys.K&N CAI, Magnaflow High Flow Cat, Flowmaster American Thunder 2.5\" Cat-back exhaust w/ 40 series Muffler (single piped exit), Pacesetter Midlength Headers, TB Bypass.

Vid of my 3.4 - http://media.putfile.com/Headers49

LOL, what did they think you had long-tubes or something? Either that or they thought our cats were in the Y-pipe like some of the V8's.1994 Firebird 3.4
15.65 @ 86.8
funkz.net/firebird
Timeslips

California... I'll never live in the state. The air is way to clean for me!
I don't even think they have inspections here in Oklahoma. Just about everyone would be ****ed if they did smog.
