  • SSRA lower scoop for FTRA

As the producer of the SSRA I've been asked many times by FTRA owners if that scoop will fit there FTRA. It doesn't. The SSRA is an inch wider. With this interest, I've decided to come out with a scoop for the FTRA. Instead of ABS plastic it is made out of aluminum. The seams are welded. It is very strong. It attaches exactly like the SSRA lower scoop. You slide the scoop into the upper. It is then attached to the front bumper with five screws. I gave one to my buddy to try at the track tomorrow. He will be monitoring the AIT and coolant temps with Autotap. I don't know anybody with the SLP CAI. So I'm not sure if it will fit the SLP. If the dimensions are close then there should be no problem. If someones willng to host pics email me. This will not work with the FTRA extension that covers the radiator. The scoop angles away from the radiator to allow air to pass over the radiator like the SSRA. This will keep your coolant temps lower than if you were to run the FTRA extension. If the Whisper CAI is an exact copy of the FTRA than it will work on that system also. LM Peformance will be my initial sponsor.

I have the SSRA and I love it but I can't seem to get it to stay in place. The two pieces keep sliding apart and the top part moves around underneath the airbox. Any tips as to how I can fix it? I know I must be losing some power with it not flowing as well as it should.

Ah I think I figured it out today while I was under the hood making some "adjustments." The SSRA isn't supposed to hang over the metal lip under the air box, it's supposed to rest back against the radiator (I noticed it had some padding on the back of it so that it wouldn't dent the radiator fins). So now it sits really tight in its spot and it connects a lot better. Only thing now is the seal, I cut a little too much off my airbox so there is a gap all the way around the bottom of my airbox and the top of the SSRA. I'm going to Lowes tomorrow to pick up some thick stick on insulation, the kind you'd put in a window or door seal. That should seal up the box perfectly.

So my tips for the designers of the SSRA:
        1. Mention in the directions not to completly cut off the bottom of the airbox because it needs a little lip to seal around the edges of the SSRA.
        2. Also mention that the SSRA rests against the radiator in its last bend before the airbox itself.

I'll put some pics up of my SSRA setup as soon as I put the insulation on. Feel free to use em on your website for advertising.

SSRA is THE BEST induction system for F-bodies, especially now that I figured out how to get the full benefits of its design!
