    Cold Air Intake.
Ram Air Hoods can be made functional, but you'll still need to put a custom CAI in to make it work.

hockeyman, so what your saying is that I could make my ultra-Z "functional" on my 3.8 if I add a CAI? The scoop port already flows air directly into the airbox, so why would I need an additional CAI? Wouldn't that just subtract flow from the scoop?

Please pardon my ignorance, I'm new at this whole "ram-air" thing.

You would have to find a way to get the air flowing from the intake of the scoop, and match it up to the tb's intake. Then, you'd have to figure out a way to filter it too. A totally cutom intake for the hood, and a PITA to route.

But..if you want to save the time, money and work, just get a CAI from ebay or something and install it. Leaving the "Ram-Airing thoughts" of Ultra Z hood as a distant memory. here is my custom intake.

I would do the WS6 ram air hood. Unlike the 95-97 Firebirds, the 3.4 is similar to the LT1 so hooking up the air box should be simple.

I have the ram air and love it. I think it flows better to. I bought the hood already functional, its a pre '97 WS6 hood. Email me if you want some pics of the setup.

I added the K&N intake to my 3.4 with a noticeable increaste HP. It was easy to install and not that expensive.

The ram air was only available on the 96-97 WS6.
