Hi, I'm using an 02 camaro 3.8L in my engine swap and I'm working on the exhaust now. I am using 2" downpipes to a fabricated "Y" then into 2.5" the rest of the way.
I had an exhaust shop make me some flared pieces with their hydraulic bender to bolt behind the stock 02 Camaro tubular manifolds.
The flared ends don't seem to have enought contact with the cone manifold gasket.
What diamter is the stock downpipe on this engine? I was guessing 1 7/8". What does the downpipe connection look like at the manifold. I am just using the flared section welded to regular pipe with a 2 hole flange slipped over it.
The stock gasket looks like the stock pipe made much more contact with it than than what I have to work with now. I am worried about leaks and just getting the exhaust to center perfectly on the gasket.
