  • LS1 EGR Valve

What was the difference in 2001 when the LS1 went from 305-310 hp? And if I had an 305 hp LS1 could I do the mod myself. I heard it has something to do with an removing an external "EGR" valve. Any input would be great, thanks.

I believe that the EGR tube/valve was removed from the intake... but this was because of a different cam profile. So, I believe the power increase occurred with the ever so slightly hotter cam (which also just so happened to allow for that EGR tube to be rid of).

They may have increased the overlap on the cam....I was reading a thing on the LT4, and that's what they did, it had enough overlap that it didn't need an external EGR system.
