  • What happens when IAT sensor isn't present?

Just out of curiosity when you run your car and the IAT sensor is not present what all happens during this process. I understand that the the pcm sends a 5v signal to it and it returns it back with a lower or higher voltage depending on the temperature. If the sensor isn't present does the pcm do anything?

Also while we're here I think I threw a code not too long ago that was saying my IAT sensor was receiving too high of a voltage. I replaced the sensor and also checked the voltage running to it and it was at 4.97. After I disconnected/reconntected my battery the code still remained. Any thoughts?

Sorry I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be in gen tech or intake so i just posted in here. Since it has to do with the intake.

I didnt take mine out, but I broke th wire and it was off that way. I got an SES light, but I didnt scan it, the dealership reset the light and fixed the wire, I had a tranny problem at the seame time which I didnt know about and that was acting up, I wouldnt worry about ruining anything. Hope this helps
