• v6 dual exhaust not "true" dual exhaust?

is it true that it's basically impossible to do true duals on v6 firebirds?

Its not impossible. Just that there is no real need, and it probably won't sound too great.

it's not impossible... just not very logical... the single exhaust on these cars is pretty efficient with a good catback, after all LS1's make well over 300 hp with single exhaust... as far as I know I'm the only one on the board that did duals on a v6, sounded good when it was done right, just had to remove it for clearance issues.. any questions you got just ask me...

                But I wouldn't go more than 3"

so 3" might be the best size to go with...

Look under your car and you'll understand.

A true dual system means each header has its own pipe going to its own cat then its own intermediate pipe and exiting thru a muffler with its own tip. On a V6, this would mean you'd hear a roaring 3 cylinder engine thru each exhaust pipe!

Listen to any GenI Viper with side pipes, and you'll see what I mean.

Our cars have a dual-exit muffler, but it's still not a true dual since there's only one muffler and one intermediate pipe. I'd go with a 3" intermediate pipe for the best balance of sound and performance.

Check out Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com) for the Edelbrock catback for 3.8L V6 ($275). It's going to be your best bet.
