  • Front grill and intake?

I removed my license plate holder and that stupid plastic peice from the fron of my 02 camaro. I removed all of the foam from around the round holes in the bumper. as it turns out by doing this i have increased my airflow. those holes lead straight back to the piece that forces the air upwards. my question is is it posible just to run something like exhaust tube down to those holes and put a filter there. or even over to my fog light holes.

thats a good question. I've always wondered if i could run tubes from the 2 holes up into my intake and make a ram air kit. that'd be pretty sweet. But idk how to do it

i think that foam is there for safety reasons. that might protect incase of a head on crash. someone correct me if i am wrong.

I honestly did not remove that much foam. The foam that i did remove is directly infront of the holes in the bumper and infront of the radiator support. I am not sure how it protects considering it is about three or four inchs away from the bumper itself. And I will say that it did not protect anything when i wrecked my '00 camaro. I don't see that is offers to much protection and doesn't seem to serve much purpose other than blocking the airflow to my intake. Am I the only one besides my cousin that has removed the foam? I think that I am going to go to a exhaust place not to far from my house to see if he could possibly bend some tubes for me the only problem that I can see is finding a filter that will fit in those holes. But if that seems to be a saftey issue that how about running the intake to both of my fog light holes. I was wonder if I took them out and ran the intake to those holes if it would be possible to take the fog lights out of a firebird or transam and put them in the holes in the middle of the bumper. I know that the are alot bigger than the ones on my car. In fact the ones on my car are pointless they really don't help any. I want to keep my car as safe as possible but I also want to find a really good cheap way to run an intake. I really don't like any of the kits that are avalable and i hate the prices. I want to eliminate the entire airbox. I mean the actual intake on that box is only a few inches long and less than an inch tall. My cousin cut holes in the top of his lid to let more air in and found that it worked but defeated the porpuse of the filter. The air that went in on the top never went through the filter. The only problem with eleminating the entire air box is finding a good way to hold up the radiator. I am not to sure as to why it holds it up but it does and there is nothing that I can do about it.

My friend set up what you guys are talking about on his '98 Z28. I'll see if I can get some pictures of it. But it just has some tubing coming straight from the holes in the grill. Its a really nice setup.
