  • Question about air flow

I was looking into getting Super sucker ram air kit, the whisper lid and the functional z-style ram air hood. But i have heard that i would have to seal up the front of the air box....if this is true then what is the point of the whisper lid or the hood? if i left it unsealed would i get more power out of it because of the hood? any input here would be great thanks

well u wouldn't gain anything, the air would go in one hole and out the other

Either way it would be okay, but this is more expensive but a better performance gain. Too expensive for me.But if you are getting a hood get the most out of it. http://www.lmperformance.com/2386/1.html Check that item.

Sandman would that give much more output than the whisper lid?

i say get the supersucker for the performance end of it and get the hood for looks but dont make it functional, the supersucker will yield more gains because more air will flow through it w/less turbulance

Raise the airbox 1/2" and get a lid.

The "ram air" kits people sell, like the supersucker, are pretty pointless. They severely decrease airflow through the radiator at speed, since it just goes around the airbox... and they nasty up the filter quickly.

If you want a simple raising kit, $15, lot cheaper than doing the supersucker. Im running 91.4mph stock with my car, and thats better than most people who bought some kind of ram air kit.

i raised my airbox with washers, and didnt really notice a diffrence, i then got rk sports ram air (yea its more expensive and alot harder to install) but you definatley notice a big improvement also i've had it installed for about 4 months and my filter is still pretty clean

air box raising kit for 15$ are the washers made of gold or something, i spent like a dollar maybe the supply and demand for washers are higher where you're at
