  • Pacesetter ceramic questions

I am thinking of ordering the pacesetter ceramic headers today. When they are installed, will they bolt up to the stock cat back system? I am not going to a muffler shop. I have a mechanic who is going to do it and he does not have welding equipment. I don't want any suprises. Is there an installation kit available with the bolts, and gaskets? If not, what do I need? Bolt size? Length? Dia.? How many? I would get a high flow cat but isnt that what sets the ses off? Not the headers? If I got one, I have no idea what to get. Im not into loud cars. (Mine that is). Do they make one the same measurements as the GM? Any help please. It has to be done in one day, It's my work car too. Oh yah, do I need different plug wires with the headers??? Part number??? Thanks for any help on any of this. Want to do it right, before sc install. Jessica

You want to run a blower but you're going to run the stock exhaust??

You want to run a blower but you're worried about a high flow cat causing an SES??

A high flow cat will probably set off an SES light, but that takes about 30 seconds to fix with an O2 sim.

The headers come with all the hardware to install them to the engine, but not to the exhaust. The best way to do it is to have the exhaust welded to the Y-Pipe. Clamps are a half-assed approach to it, imo.

I never said I had all the answers, just alot of questions. So, that's why I asked. I don't know what the sc is gonna do to the computer, nobody has told me. Just that the MAF will freak out the first time I start it, and then it will adjust. I have no idea about anything else.

you have to weld. a clamp will not do the trick. it will still be loud with the clamp on there, because there will be a leak. I'd wait and get headers, cat and catback at the same time.

you have to cut the stock y-pipe to get the manifolds off, so depending on where you cut the stock one will determine if you can hook it up to the stock exhaust.

you have to cut it? why not just take the bolts out. jessica anyway you go with the headers you will need to weld them. it's the best way to go. you could use those clamps but there's more of a chance you will get exhaust leak. i have a huge exhaust leak after the cat b/c gm went ahead and used clamps so i have to take it off and weld it. so just go ahead and get a weld on there.

Thanks, I may have to wait, I gotta find someone to put them in. Noboady here wants to do it, and I can't (not because lack of knowledge), just live in an apt. complex, and have rinki dink tools. No way to get under it.

you could have your mechanic install it, then go by midas and give em 10 bucks to do a quick weld. Also if you want the flow get a hf cat. No ses here after a few hundred miles.

                Question about high flow cats,

O2 sim???? I'm lost help please. I'm looking at getting a new exhaust system with a high flow cat and dont want any suprises myself. What is a o2 sim? Or did you mean get a new o2 sensor?
