all SLP products say V8 when they dont fit on a V6 car. Unless its a V8 specific part, and Im pretty sure the part you're talking about will fit.

also do you have to buy a special filter for it because on the websites i see this on it says filter not included. what filter is it talking about?

Okay...are you talking about the lid or the metal box?

If it's the lid, the ONLY type that will fit you car is the one for "99-02 v6" fbodys. The V8 lid will not fit on your car.

If you're talking about the box, yes, that will fit on all 98+ fbodys.

You don't need a special filter with either of these products. However, if you're getting the ram air I would recommend getting a K&N or Airhog filter from your local auto store. The ram air will get your air filter dirty very fast and these filters can be cleaned and reused...but they're not absolutely necessary and won't really give you any power gains.

what do you mean by dont get another filter? i'm assuming you mean staying with the corrugated paper ones and the only thing that will happen is that you'll have to change them frequently (i.e. once every 2-3 months) so figuring you spend 15 bucks per filter (guestimating) over a year you'll spend 60 bucks on air filters. might as well go k&n...
