cat-back install

ok guys so i sent back the flowmaster and ordered the texas-speed rumbler. they say this is a direct bolt on. my question is, is their a point at which i will unbolt my old exhuast and just bolt on the new, or with their be a point that i cut and just slip, and clamp on the new exhuast? any help would be great, thanx, forrest.

you have to cut the old cat back off, install the new one and have it welded. a clamp is only a temp fix. if you only got a cat-back then you'd obviously make the cut after the cat. You should probably lay the new cat-back out underneath the car approx where it'll be installed. that way you can get an idea on where to cut. Leave yourself some room. You'll need a hack saw.

If you're doing this yourself then do all that. You can band clamp it, but as mentioned before this is only temp. Clamp it, then take it to an exhaust shop to weld. It shouldnt be too much.

fyi, you can rent an exhaust cutting tool at autozone for free, and it should be a lot easier than using a hack saw, thats what i used and im glad i did.

there is a factory point ot disconnect the exhaust just above the little fake crossmember piece.

just like shenanigans just stated,
if you are just installing a 'catback' that is built for your make and model of car then the only thing yo will have to cut is the stock exhaust pipe near the over axle pipe. you need to cut it to get the old systme out. the stock system is clamped at the factory just after the S pipe. you will remove the clamp the all of the stock exhaust from that point back and then put all your new pieces and muffler and tips on. You can do it yourself quite easily with the clamps that come with the kit. put everything up and then go back and re adjust it. tighten all the clamps and drive it for a couple of days. if you have rattles then back back under the car and adjust the system. when all is golden take it to a muffler shopt and have them weld the system. ($75 to a hundred bucks at most)

or you cna just drop the rear axle and not drop anything.

just drop the rear axle...


unhook the enlinks on the rear sway.
unhook the 2 loser shock bolt mounts, lower rear.

probably takes less time then to find your extension cord and saw.

If pulling your exhaust out in one piece matters.
