can you modify the stock lid to act like a whisper lid?

So all the whisper lid is is the stock lid without the marks?

The whisper lid is taller and has a larger air outlet.

That free whisper lid setup may or may not work. Since you didn't tell us what year car you have, it'll only work on 99+ with the straight TB. With 98, you'll have to get some kind of dryer ducting.
