  • What's needed to replace stock manifolds?

I just recently bought my old 96 Camaro back from my sister and while she had it she put a set of headers on it. What all do I need to replace the headers with the stock exhaust manifolds? I assume the y-pipe that came with the headers won't work with the stock manifolds.

To answer the question, you are correct in that the aftermarket y-pipe will not fit. You'll need new stock bolts, manifolds, gaskets, and the y-pipe.

The problem is the jack***es who put the system on for my sister hacked up the driver's side header because it wouldn't clear the steering linkage. They also didn't tighten the bolts on the y-pipe so it's been hanging loose off the headers. The car has basically been running open headers ever since they were put on. I tried to get the y-pipe on further but it's rusted so much now that I can't do anything with it. I can literally take the y-pipe and shake it up and down against the headers.
