I am debating between Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, or Dynomax cat back systems, I know the first 2 are crazy expensive, but if it sounds much better, and they look alto better, I'll jsut have to pinch a few more pennies.
Any ideas, or recommendations, What kinda sounds does Borla, or Maganaflow have?...I cant seem to find any info on them 2.
I recommend Flowmaster. I have a flowmaster 80 series and i love the deep sound. Borla might sound better but I dont think its worth all the extra money.
My Magnaflow rusted out in a year and a half. I can't recommend it. I just ordered a Flowmaster from Jegs and I'm looking forward to installing it. By the way, if you go to the flowmaster website, you can play a sound clip of the 80 series as installed on our cars. Funny thing is that it sounds exactly like the clip of the 5.7L.
I am looking for a nice deep rumble, and I dont want it to be too loud, just loud enough to let people know you are there
I had Magnaflow on my Sunbird, it was loud as hell, and it was probably the best sound possible out of that car, I like the sound of Magnaflow on 4 bangers, but that is not the sound I want on a Camaro.
I really dont want it to be loud, is it possible for it to sound mean without being loud?....the most important thing is, I DONT want it to sound ricey
I want to put up another vote for flowmaster, I bought my system about a month ago and was thinking about every exhaust. I heard borla and magnaflow were a little too quiet. Dynomax I know is pretty quiet cuz I use to have one. So I went with flowmaster, it seemed like the best choice for the best price. I'd recommend buying some new tips with it btw if you did. My 3.5inch rolled tips really bring out the sound in it. And it's not too loud and I don't get any chainsaw at all. I had my LT1 friend say that my car sounds better then his (he has stock exhaust). For $280 on a catback you can't go wrong. But get a nice carsound cat with it and some good looking tips.
BTW - The flowmaster catback is made from aluminized steel, which means it's not going to rust on you like some of the other crap out there.
Ted
I am planning to put a Magnaflow catback on my car soon. I have been doing a lot of research on it and it seems like it will be the best. Also i always go with the modo "u get what u pay for." And if u go cheap u are getting cheap stuff. I think u should go with either Magnaflow or Borla. Probably get the best bang for your buck. IMO

I'm a fan of my borla. You can change the sound and performance level whenever you want with the different plates they give you. And you can always make your own plates and really customize your exhaust to its own sound.
alright this is what your looking at. flowmaster is gonna give u the best sound down low hands down. borla will also give a very unique kickass sound, u can hear borla on a lot of mustang GTs. u cant really describe it, it makes the car sound like a modern muscle car rather than a 1970 muscle car. magnaflow will give u a quieter sound on the V6, kinda like a minature flowmaster sound. performancewise, flowmaster is amoung the worst giving about a 2-3hp gain, it is pretty restictive but better than stock, borla is gonna be ur best bet for performance giving u probably a max of 5hp, magnaflow isnt much worse than borla. i dont know much about dynomax but ive heard good things about them. the bottom line, if u want sound go with flowmaster, if u want performance go with borla or magnaflow...if u want a mixture of both flowmaster would probably be ur best bet

Does anybody have any sound clips of a Magnaflow catback on a 3.8 Camaro, I apprciate all the info, and after hearing a clip of Flowmaster, I REALLy like it, but I am jsut curious aobut Magnaflow, becasue I have be happy with it before on other cars...
Someone said it was quieter?...how quiet, I dont want it to be loud, jsut a nice sound that you can hear outside, and not to much inside the car, I really like the loks of the system, jsut waintg to hear it before I buy
