• new high flow cat...new wierd smell

During my ride home from the muffler shop after having my new Carsound Cat installed, I notice this wierd smell. Is there like a burn in period or something for new cats? will it eventually go away?

Yeah it'll smell really weird at first. Just give it a few days to burn in and it'll go away.

high flow cat = less restriction ... less restriction = improved gas milage, unless you really dig the sound and get on it more than normal. As far as the new smell ... oil is put on the parts from the factory to keep them from rusting, give it a few miles and you'll be good.

Apparently a lot of our cars give a ses code when the cat is upgraded. I just got a new one from magnaflow with my new catback and I haven't had a ses light activated, but I did have the burning smell for several days. I thought maybe it was the welding job, who knows.

I had Midas install my cat and I'm not getting any SES light. I think they installed a sensor in the pipe or they just put in an O2 sensor.

High flow cats routinely cause SES lights, but not right away. Mine didn't come on unti a year after I got the cat, then it was time for an O2 sim.

yes, my cat made my system sound amazing! i was satisfied with how my system sounded before it and now I couldn't be happier with it.

Ditto, on my V6 anyways. I went straight to long tubes and o2 sims with my Hawk .
