well, i just got my pacesetters on fri. and there was a ticking sound when i left. so i circled around and went back to let the mechanic hear it and he said he "forgot all about the 'EGR' tube". i guess he had to weld it on cuz it didnt fit right. but anyway he welded it up and i was on my merry way again when i still heard it... so back i went and he said that theres a leak in the tube he couldnt see so im goin back mon. (theyre not open sat. or sun.)to get a whole new tube put on for free. i thought the leak would have been a type of hissing noise or something, but its a deffinate tick. what else could it be? i thought the gains were from the new headers were pretty good at low rpm... then i got to around 3500-4000 rpm and WOW! ya, pretty good HP increase opposed to stock! id recommend em for sure F-Y-I. but anyway, what do you think it could be?

I have a leak in the collectors...the bolts were too long and the threads run out right before getting tight...check my thread from a few days ago.

The ticking you are hearing is probably the exhaust valve right by the EGR opening. I ran my headers with out the EGR tube hooked up for a few miles, and you can really hear the ticking from the valve(s).

I just tried to install my pacesetter headers a while back and to make a long story short i had to put my stock exhaust manifolds back on a week ago. Now im hearing a slight ticking noise from the engine when im accelerating too! It sucks! Sounds bad. Should i just retighten my headers again or what? Im pretty sure my EGR is connected fine.

Its the gaskets on the headers themselfs. If there not lined up perfectly there going to leak. I went through this. My passenger side leaked and i got another gasket from pacesetter and it fixed it right up. Used some sealet to make sure it stuck to the right spot. I also got a custom seal for the egr to make sure it didn't leak.

took the car back to the shop and they went ahead and just took off the EGR tube altogether. welded the opening shut and no more loud tick... i think its still there though, but if it is its VERY faint. well, seems to do the trick overall and im gonna keep an eye (or ear) on things in the upcoming weeks to see if there are anymore problems.
