  • A lot of questions

This is my first post to the board but I have been reading posts for about 2 or 3 months now and I have done a lot of searching on this topic and I'm pretty sure of what I want. I'm planning to do everything headers back.

So first question I'm planning to get the pacesetter headers. I will get the coated ones but what is the difference between the Jet-Hot coated ones and just the steel w/ ceramic coating? Is it worth the extra $85 for the Jet hots if my car is not for show? Also does anyone know what size the pipe is that goes from the heads to the cat?

I am also planning to get either a magnaflow or loudmouth catback (listened to a lot of clips still not sure yet.) but what size is the loudmouth piping? It says magnaflow is 2.5" with a 3.5" tip is that correct?

Also, with this system what size high flow cat would I need to get? Anyone that could suggestion one for me to get?

I am looking to buy everything from FTPP and I would like to order it all at once. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Now I'm gonna go wash my car cause we have a 30% chance of rain. So I figured if I go wash it it'll make it about a 100% chance of a tourential downpour. ;) thanks again for any help.

With the Magnaflow, the v6 kit does come with 2.5" piping. If you were to get the LT1 kit instead, it would come with 3" piping. Stock is 2.25", so you can decide what size you'd rather have on your car. I'm not sure on the size for the loud mouth though. Maybe somebody that has one will chime in.
For the cat, the stock y-pipe is 3", and the stock cat is 3"in/3"out.

So from what I've read I could get the LT1 kit and it would fit other than the hangers are different correct?

So if I got the headers and the LT1 3" magnaflow exhaust would I need a 3" in/out hi-flow cat?

thats correct.if money is a issue just get the hi-flow cat and the magnaflow. sence headers dont add that much power anyway. mostly just sound.

With the LT1 system you will also need an 02 sensor. Hit up Grayman's site.. very helpful.

Money really isn't an issue I plan to do the whole thing I just don't know what sizes and stuff I need. Back to one of my original questions. Is it worth it to get the jet-hot headers as opposed to just the normal steel ones if its just for everyday use and not for a show quality look? Is there any real advantage to the jet-hot's other than the looks?

Also, what's the url to graymans site? Probably a stupid question but I don't think I have seen it yet.

thanks guys for your help so far. It's greatly appreciated.

jet-hot meaning coated? if so, coated ones just keep in heat ALOT better, thus more power. and they look 100 times better.im sure sure what else coated ones do. i never really looked into headers.

url to graymans site? umm gimme a minute or two ill find it.

Doesn't the 3" magnaflow exhaust system tend to rattle because of the tight fit? Why I ask is I'm also looking to put on a new magnaflow exhaust system on my car and am unsure what to get.

Ok I read thru graymans's guide and everything makes sense now. I think I'm going to get a 3" in/out high flow cat with an O2 sensor boss in it as well as the LT1 magnaflow 3" exhaust and then I will just adapt the hangers as his guide shows.

The only question I have left is about the headers. #1 if I get the ceramic coated steel pacesetter headers (part #PSE-1209C) will these go directly to my cat? or will I still need my Y-pipe? Also, what size is the pipe that goes from the heads to the cat?

thanks loser for the link to grayman's page that helped out a great deal I will refer to that after I order my cat-back and am ready to install it

The headers come with the y-pipe.
