has anyone thought about running w/o a full cat-back exhaust? I keep looking at my 3", and there's not much room between my axle, the pipe, and the floor pan. i have a feeling that if I lower my car, the exhaust will rest on the rear axle, and will bang like my exhaust used to when it was too low. My new idea, is to get a resonator or glasspack and have it put on right after the cat. The dynomax bullit mufflers seem like a good choice, and also have custom lengths, longer for a smoother, possibly quieter tone, shorter for a louder, more gurgley tone, and just have a dump pipe or turn-down right before the rear axle. This seems like it would save weight, provide more clearance in the rear areas, and would produce more power on cars w/ a power-adder, heads/cam, high compression, ect. also would be somewhat tamed for the street, even tho i figure it'll be very loud at high rpm's.

i think it'd be great to try, just too see what it sounds like, although prolly hella loud at high rpms

I'd rather keep the apperance of my tips. I kind of got tired on the setup I had where just the rear end shows. You look like a redneck that cut off his exhaust cuz you were too cheap to put on a catback. But thats just me.
