  • Before I order my Wisper Lid>>>>>>>>>

I am just worried that with a Wisper Lid and the K&N filter combined with the Free ram air that I could possibley have a problem with water geting in when I drive in the rain, I dont want to mess it up, if I have to I will take the washers out from under the box and fill in where I did the cut outs for the airbox base. I drive this car in rain and snow and dont have the option to just park it. www.thunderracing.com has a lid and it is $129.99 with all the parts is that good? I tried summit racing and that place is a mess!
Finaly does the wisper lid come with a place for me to plug in that sensor that is pluged into the current air box?

you'll be straight. You're not driving through ponds are you?

I had a lid and "Fast toys ram air" for over a yr and have never had any water ingestion problems. The lid will come with a little grommet for the sensor.

OK ok you got the ram air thing confused. the FRA wont let water get in NOR will the whisper lid. When people write out thier horror stories about ram air its usually one like the SLP ram air or the RKSPORT ram air. The thing that looks like a scoop. I doubt its gonna go through the hole you cut...Lastly YES the whisper lid has the hole and rubber grommet for the IAT sensor...

With the FTRA kit, it can happen (getting h20 in there), it happened to me. I wasn't driving fast in the water, or anything, but sometimes ouddles aren't avoidable. It took me about 5 hours to un-hydrolock mine yesterday. Besides this one occurence, no problems. It does come with a block-off plkate to avoid this too.

              1. No, no problems with water.
              2. $129.99? I guess that is the going rate. You should be able to find one used for about 80-100 bucks, though.
              3. Yes, there is the grommet to plug the senseor.

You know I was reading the faqs on the slp site, and they claim that there is no way you can suck up water using their product. They claim they built in just enough leakage to keep it from acting like a vacuum. I wouldn't have any fears with the free ram air mod. There plenty of leakage in that. I was in your shoes before I decided to go with the ram air hood (someday) and the raised and completely cutout airbox. I still have to do some checking because I'm a big fan of "brushless" car washes. Wouldn't be a problem right now, but with the ram air hood, I don't know. Gonna check this weekend to make sure.

Oh, anybody seen the new (raised)airbox offered. 475 dollars. What a joke! The funny part is that they basically show ya how to build the thing in the pics! Well, thanks to Cardinal, my box is already raised and will be cut out this weekend.
