I am going to get a 96-97 3.8 this spring and i want to run Stephan's "ultimate 3.8 exhaust." only problem is is his car is a 98+, will the flowemaster american thunder 3" cat back for the LS1 work on a 96-7 fbod? i know there is a slight bit of modification for the 98+, but i dunno if it will fir a 96-7, or what the eact mods are needed to hook up

get the LT1 3" catback. You want the LT1 anyway because it will bolt up to the S-pipe.

I know magnaflow's catback includes the s-pipe, where as flowmasters doesn't (if I remember). You can go to www.slponline.com and order the loudmouth install kit (which has the 3" s-pipe). That way you will have full 3" from the y-pipe back.

I know my Trans Am LS1 take off exhaust came no where near a direct bolt in. Needed a different hanger location, and some minor fabrication. Found out after the fact I needed an LT1 take off exhaust.

The LT1 will work with pacesetter headers, and a hi flow cat too?

yes, the y-pipe supplied should go in the same routing and location as stock. Highflow cat doesn't matter, its still the same length in most cases. If not, its easily made to fit.
