  • remove cat?

Well I was just wanting some input on what you guys think about removing the cat and just putting one piece of piping in its place. Back during Spring Break I removed the whole exhaust and it sounded way to loud and ugly at higher rpms. Will removing the cat alone make it sound the same as removing the whole exhaust? Or will it sound deep?

It doesn't matter. It is a felony to remove the cat. You could get in big trouble if you're caught. Just something to think about at least.

I haven't had a cat for a while. IT SMELLS BAD! other than that, you will loose a small amount of low end and pick it up on the top end. I have no cat, Flowmaster 40 series, and the exhaust dumps out the passenger side by the rear floorboard. All of this is 2.75" piping. It has a VERY deep and mellow tone. Your SES light might come on if you don't get an O2 sim.....EDIT.....we don't have ANY kind of emission testing here and the cops are VERY cool! 90% of all Mustangs and muscle cars around here run open pipes and/or no cat. The cops never give it a second thought.
