Ok, I searched for this, and cant find anything. I have my 3" magnaflow catback now. And am fixing to buy a 3" cat, but what Im wondering is do they sell a 3" Y-pipe for the pacesetters I already have on my camaro? I was thinking about it, and deccided it would be pretty gay for the exhaust to go into a cramped 2 1/4" Y-pipe collector, to then go into a 3" cat, and cat-back exhaust. Is there one, or do I have to custom fab, which is going to be kinda expensive, and probably not mandrel bent.
well, i would think the reason it isnt done is because of clearance. i can only imagine how much i would scrap if i had a bigger y-pipe on there. but anyways. there is nowhere for it to go like when you upgrade your exhaust that runs along the exhaust lane. i understand what you mean, but our motors dont need it and our ground clearance doesnt make it practical.
Have a shop modify the Pacesetter Y pipe - cut off the collector and make a new 3" one. Each downpipe from the headers is 2 1/4" so you're right, it doesn't make sense to have two 2 1/4" going into one 2 1/4"
Yeah, thats what I was thinking. And the way i see it, I think the LT1's have a 2.75" collector there, right? So I think I can squeeze in a 3". I hope this wont be too expensive though, because if I think about it, thats quite a bit of welding, and bending, etc. Thanks for the replies guys. ;)
