  • Can I use this high temp silicone spray?

    http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...t=exhaust+wrap

I want to coat some areas (clamps) with this spray to prevent them from being rusted completely on. Sound like a good idea? Basically I want to protect it from rusting and whatnot especially with winter coming up. I have some small rust on a few spots which i can clean up (more like a little oxidation than rust) and then apply this spray.

Also, since its high temp silicone, I assume that all I need to do to get it off is basically cut it off, correct?

its good up to 1500 degrees... how hot does our exhaust systems get anyways???

    Thanks

i have had good luck with rustoleum's 'industrial' line of spray paints (i prefer the stainless steel color but it probably doesnt matter). a couple quick coats will last quite a while (particularly if you give a quick spray with brake cleaner first to get the surface clean. i have used it on the u-bolts on my exhaust. worked pretty good.

rustoleum's cold galvanizing spray is supposed to be fairly good as well.
