Hey guys, question on the WS6 stock muffler. I just picked one up (just the muffler and tips). I have heard this is a free flowing unit. I have the Y87/W68 stock one now. Has anyone switched or heard just a muffler swap. Will this be good or should I just stay with what I have. I don't want anything crazy like a cat back or anything. Just a little more rumble and maybe a little more go.
Thanks

The idle on my car is awesome. I have bigger cat/i-pipe into ws6 muffler. I think it has a decent sound to it, it's louder than stock, but it's very conservative. Give it a shot, but definitely get bigger pipes and/or cat while you're at it.
The reason I was just thinking to go with the WS6 muffler only is that I spend a lot of my time on the highway. I definately do not want to have any type of droning at highway speeds. That is why I am trying to stay away from anything crazy. I have read that the WS6 muffler is a higher flowing unit than the one I have now and even higher than the Trans Am muffler. Dr, what is your exhaust set up exactly and how do you like the sound?

What you should probably do is go full 3" piping and a new cat and use that WS6 Muffler. It'll perform just as well as a much louder muffler (especially on a V6 which only flows about 400cfm of air anyways) and it won't drone.

My exhaust setup is a little weird, but I like it.
3" cat
3" i-pipe
2.75" over-axle
ws6 muffler and tips
The idle is absolutely amazing, even compared to my dynomax when I had stock piping. Throughout the RPM range, though, I don't think sounds better than the dynomax on stock piping. It's been a while, though, I'd really have to hear the dynomax again. Flowmaster sounds good on 3" pipes, but it's pretty loud. The WS6 muffler has NO drone on the highway. I think the WS6 route is a good way to go cheap, but I don't know on stock pipes - the awesome idle could just be entirely a product of the larger pipes. If I do change mufflers some day, I'm pretty sure it will be a dynomax. I hope that helped, I know it sounds wishy-washy but I was trying to be accurate.
